Vargas squeaks out win at Forrest Lakes

This weeks Hooters Tour event experienced two days of frost delays which is very unusual for Florida. So with the short winter days, the second round had to be completed early this morning before the cut of -2 was determined. Affrunti gets second win on Hooters Pro Tour

Four of the ten New England players entered in this weeks Hooters event made it into the final round at The Southern Dunes Golf and CC today with two of them finishing in the top ten. Joe Affrunti(-15) took a couple of weeks off of the Hooters Pro Tour for Q-school and is back this week trying to re-gain the lead on the money list before he left. Graduation day for the class of 2009 at Q-School

Six days ago 170 players went after the dream of carrying a tour card for 2010 at the Bear Lakes CC and 108 holes later we have the class of 2009. The qualifying cut line to get to the big show was at nine-under par and 25 players made that cut. After a couple of days down with computer problems, Sink the Putts is back to work. Picking up where I left off at the Q-School final, one thing hasn’t changed….our leader. Merritt holds his lead after day two at Bear Lakes CC

Five birdies and 2 bogeys gives Troy Merritt (-8) a three-under 69 today to maintain first place for the second day in a row, one shot over Jay Williamson(-7) who holds his second place position after day 2. The week after Labor Day, hundreds of PGA  hopefuls started their journey to earn a chance to play with the best next season on the PGA Tour  and after 3 Qualifying stages (216 holes) it has come down to this week at Bear Lakes CC.
