The second round of the Bridgestone Winter Series Championship is in the books and after the dust has settled, the 115 players is now down to 40 as the cut line was -1 today. Yesterdays leader Ted Potter(-10) remains on top after carding a 4-under, 68. Potter has made just one bogey this week which came on his 3rd hole (12th hole) since he started on the backside today.
Low round of the day goes to Russell Knox (-9) and he has now jumped into the second spot just one shot off the lead. Knox also started on the 10th hole today with a few pars before making bogey on 13. Knox quickly made his shot back with a birdie on 14 and was even in the snack shop. Sitting 5th in the money, Knox decided to kick it up a notch and make birdies on holes 1,2 and 3 and after making pars on 4 and 5, Russell threw down an eagle 3 on 6th hole. Knox went on and made birdies on 7 and 9 for an incredible 7-under 29 front nine, finishing with 65 (-7) for the day. Three players are at 8-under including Ryan Gildersleeve who sits 4th in the money. Michael Thompson(-3) carded a 69 today. Vargas (-1), Hampshire (-3) and Benson(4) will all cash this week as well and with Jones(+3) and Renner (+1) missing the cut and Affrunti not playing, the top ten will shuffle quite a bit this week.
Jon Curran and Jesse Smith are both in the top twenty at -4 and are the only two New England players to make the cut this week. Other results were; Renner 74-71(+1), Welch 71-74 (+1), Troy III 72-75 (+3), Parziale 75-73 (+4), Zolatas 79-73 (+8), Elliot-DQ.
