You almost have to almost feel bad for the folks in Florida while they experience the cold and in some parts they even got snow but I said almost for a reason. Floridians have no problem rubbing in their sunny 80 degree weather while we shovel several feet of snow every winter up here in New England and besides where do you think most of the Florida residents come from so they should be used to it.That being said, we have seven of our Northeast hopefuls competing in the 132 player field this week on the 7200 yard, par 71 track at Forrest Lake Golf Course in Ocoee, FL.
Unfortunately with the lengthy delay this morning just half the field was able to complete their rounds and only George Zolatas (74) of Peobody finished from our 7 players entered. Rob Oppeheim, Jim Renner, Michael Welch, Matt Parziale, Jon Curran and John Elliot were not able to complete their rounds due to darkness.Despite the cold weather, the locals in Florida own the top four spots when play was suspended today and Lee Williamson of Ocoee is on top after carding a -5, 66 today.
Ocoee, FL (January 12, 2010)….. First round play was suspended at 5:45pm Tuesday due to darkness at the Bridgestone Winter Series event at Forest Lake Golf Club. The afternoon wave of round 2 will be delayed 30 minutes and is scheduled to begin at 12:30pm Wednesday. Please plan accordingly.
