Back to work for some on the Hooters Pro Tour
-
We can finally put the holidays behind us and get back to business as usual. This weeks event brings us to Shingle Creek GC in Orlando, Fl with the smallest field so far in the winter series. With winter in full force here in New England, surprisingly there is just 3 players from the area entered in this weeks event as some went home for an extended holiday vacation and with all the snow, a few may be still shoveling for all we know. With no surprise to me, a pair of Massachusetts natives are on top of the leader board after day one with Rob Oppenhiem (-5) holding a one shot lead over Jim Renner (-4). Oppenheim started his back nine with 3 straight birdies on holes 1,2 and 3 and only one bogey on the day. Renner had himself seven birdies but carded a double bogey on 12 and a bogey on 7. Jon Curran (+1) finds himself tied for 18th after day one as he made 4 bogeys and 3 birdies.
Play resumes Wednesday at the Shingle Creek GC with the 91 players trying to make the cut of 40 plus ties.
