Fresh off his 7th place finish last week on the Hooters Pro Tour in Harmony, Jim Renner of Plainville, Ma leads the 69 hopefuls that are looking to advance to the second round of qualifying for Q-School 2009.

Renner made one bogey and five birdies , good enough for the lead after day 1 with a 68 (-4). Jim is one of 4 Massachusetts natives trying to advance next month to the second round and unfortunately for the other 3….Matt Parziale(Brockton), George Zolotas( Ipswich) and Scott Hawley(Shrewsbury) will have some work to do as they are all tied for 51st sitting at +3.

Matt Parziale looked to have a solid round posting 4 bogeys and a birdie and will need to turn up the heat over the next couple of days  if he plans on advancing to the next round.

The field will be cut to the lowest 22 scores and ties after tomorrows round. The cut line is at -1 which puts all three of them four shots out.
