Rounds played under

Up here in the Northeast, we are not so lucky when it comes to golfing in nice conditions year round. To compensate for frozen grounds, wet conditions, leaves all over the place and just plain old crappy weather, we have what is called winter rules. What are winter rules? Basically you get a preferred lie everywhere on the golf course with no penalty but does this mean you can hockey puck the ball around till [more...]

This time of year in New England only the die hard golfers try to get in those few extra holes before the first snow and for one college student home on Thanksgiving break it was a rewarding day. My biggest pet peeves of golf

A little consideration goes a long way on a golf course I figured this would be a fun article to write but I must warn you, although I mean no disrespect to anybody what so ever, this will probably still offend a few of you so if you can’t take constructive criticism with a little bit of sarcasm, I suggest that if you are reading this on line, click the little “x” on the top [more...]

Sixes wild for Potter as he takes top prize at Grasslands CC

When you are in the beach, rake the bunker

Golf is supposed to be a relaxing sport, a day away from the realities of life, work , home etc. That doesn’t mean that you do not have to work while playing golf and I am not talking about grinding shots out and sweating those 2 foot putts. What I am talking about is your responsibilities as a golfer to be courteous to the other golfers and  do a little clean up on the course. [more...]

Rule 27-2 Provisional Ball

Picture this. You are on the tee and hit a bomb but uh-oh , the ball tails at the end putting you on the edge of the out of bounds stake. Just in case your ball is out, you hit a provisional from the tee and dump it about 150 yards. Now, it’s 95 degrees outside and you are walking (cheapskate) mumbling to your invisible caddie on how you stink. Because your pissed and it’s [more...]
